Welcome to our web site, well actually our blog site whilst we finish building the web site which will be uploaded later in 2014.
Whilst here, you’ll discover why sash windows are such a unique style of opening, why they’re so effective as a window and so beautiful to have in your home. We make no bones about it, this site is biased towards sash windows, to their appearance and to retain their ongoing presence in UK properties.
Why, because they represent the very best in design and engineering that our country is known for and because we believe it’s important to see them retained in the street scenes in towns across the country!
We believe in the preservation of listed properties and the restrictions placed upon them.
We also support the principals of conservation areas and areas of special interest but we dont follow the idealology that only one material can fulfill every need, nor that the same principals must apply to buildings needing preservation or conservation.
Preservation to us means you should take every step possible to preserve the fabric of the building, retain the original components for later generations to see. The building itself is the priority.
Conservation however should conserve the style, look and appearance of an area, but the building isn’t the focus, the lives of those who use the building should be the priority.
Neither do we support local planning and conservation departments, who give their “personal preferences”, ahead of the “factual requirements” as required by the Town and Country Planning Act.
Still you are most welcome to visit our site, to offer suggestions and feedback and we trust you’ll enjoy reading about the reasons sash windows are such an important asset of our countries heritage, that they should be retained or reinstated.
